Sashes glide horizontally on a track from side to side. Depending on the configuration, one or two sashes operate. Sashes can be removed for cleaning.
Active-Stationary (one operable, one fixed); Active-Passive (two moveable sashes); and Active-Stationary-Active (three panels: two operating sashes flanking a fixed center).
Horizontal sliding windows move left/right. Vertical sliding windows (double-hung) move up/down. Double-hung is more traditional in appearance; horizontal sliders are more contemporary and offer more glass area.
Sizes vary by sash configuration. A standard 1:1 ranges from 10.5"H x 22"W up to 72"H x 96"W. Triple configurations can reach up to 144" wide. Consult a representative for specifics.
Yes. Renewal by Andersen’s design moves weatherstripping from the frame to the sash for a cleaner seal. A continuous monorail frame minimizes air and water infiltration. Dual-action cam locks pull sashes together AND push the sash outward toward the frame for a tight seal on all sides.
Weatherstripping is in the sash (not the frame), which is easier to keep clean and provides a better seal. The monorail frame has a continuous perimeter ridge that minimizes infiltration. Patent-pending sill water-management technology directs water out efficiently.
For non-Renewal by Andersen windows, full-frame or insert replacement is used. For existing Renewal by Andersen windows, operable sashes can be removed and replaced if necessary. Contact your local location for service or repairs.
